Alberton to Missoula Montana
A beautiful morning ride...
We had a short day today so started later than usual. We loaded up the car in Superior, drove to Alberton, looked at the old bridge, then started riding around 10am.
We had a beautiful side road out of Alberton before we had to get on I-90 for a few miles west of Huson. After that, we had a picnice lunch at Frenchtown Pond State Park (Sandra took this picture).
We rode on a nice paved bike path for about 10 miles before our final 10 miles into Missoula. We arrived around 230pm. We went to Ironhorse Brewery for a drink. Lynn and Sandra ate dinner. Kay and I didn't because we didn't know whether or not our warm showers host was providing dinner or not. Lynn was able to get her bike brakes checked and adjusted. Sandra and Lynn are staying at Shady Spruce Hostel. Kay and I loaded our bags onto our bikes and rode 2 miles to Ethel's house where we will be staying. Ethel is 85 and has been on many great bicycle and hiking adventures. Only a few months ago she tried to stay with Kay in Biloxi Mississippi, but it didn't work out for Kay and, it turns out Ethel had to cut her trip short anyway due to an accident. Ethel has hosted cyclists for at least 13 years. We sat in the back yard and visited over drinks and snacks. Her friend Ann, who is currently battling cancer, came over to join us. They are both great ladies! Kay and I ended up walking a few blocks to get a sandwich. We plan to have breakfast with Ethel in the morning.
