We woke up around 530am (after having gone to bed around 8pm last night). We went to a coffee shop for a bite.
we waited for the shuttle to take us to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. We signed up for the boat ride to the memorial (the rides are limited due to construction on the docking piers). We watched the movie and visited the museums while we waited for our turn to ride the boat.
We got the car and went for a ride. Our tour driver lives on the east side. She told us that was the pretty side. She said the view just on the other side of the tunnel was fabulous. She was right!
We stopped at a roadside fruit stand for some fresh mango. The peacocks help clean up the leftover coconuts.
We drove on to Lanai Lookout.
Funny things:
The Elevator
You have to push the button of the floor you want to summon the elevator. The you are supposed to pay attention to which of the 5 elevators to get on. After a long flight and a really long day, you can understand why we had to ride the elevator multiple times before we actually got to the correct floor yesterday. Today, we had no excuse.
The Balcony Door
We unlocked the top, it didn't open. So we fiddled with the latch on the handle and could not get it to move. So I asked someone to come help. A nice young man came up and just pulled it open. The latch on the handle does nothing, we just didn't pull hard enough.
The Ice Machine
The gal at the desk said the ice machine was on the even numbered floors. We are on the 5th floor. So we tried to go down to 4. We were unable to get the elevator to come after we pushed the 4. We figured it was our inability to call the elevator correctly, so we took the stairs. We walked down until we found a door to enter. It was the 3rd floor. And we walked through some maintenance room to get out to the elevators. Somehow, we missed the 4th floor. So we tried the elevator once again. We still failed to get 4 to work so we went to 6, with no problem. Perhaps the 4th floor floor does not exist.
