Breakfast at 7 and we left around 8am.
The gas stations in all the countries we've been in need to take a lesson from Quick Trip. These stations seem very inefficient. I understand when there is not much space, but this one and many others have had plenty of space around them.
I watched the lady in the light blue car to the far right get out of the car, fill the tank, go inside to pay and get a key to the toilet, go to the toilet, take the key back inside, get in her car and drive away. Meanwhile the guy behind her had already pumped and paid and was waiting for her to move. There is no "pay at the pump". You just get in line and wait your turn to fill and go inside to pay. Hopefully you don't pick a line with someone who has to use the toilet! Or go shopping while they are inside to pay!
We were on a busy road going into Germany and there was a toll both so we exited into a side road to cross. No signs or flags. So we sat and ate our lunch.
We did a lot of climbing and it was in the low 90s. Around 3pm, we only had a couple of miles to go... then we hit this...
Our route was ti go straight. Someone at the house on the right, told us to go the other way through the first... going straight was no good. At this point, I noticed my back tire was low. Since it was all gravel through the forest about 2 miles, we walked it in. The trail in the forest got pretty rough. Fortunately, Google had walking directions through the forest as there were several paths.
I wonder if we could have taken this nice path instead?
We arrived very hot, very sweaty, very stinky, and very tired around 530pm. Then I changed my flat tire. I didn't find anything sharp in the tire (story of my life). I suspect, and am going with, I let the tire pressure get too low and it pinched the tube.
We are staying in Backerwirt Gasthof in separate rooms since they only had full size beds. Each room (with breakfast) was about $75.
By the time I changed my tire and washed up, it was 745pm before we ate pizza, which was very good (pizza, Fanta, and a scoop of ice cream was $12).
The town of Chamerau is very pretty by the river.
Tomorrow should be much easier.
