Znin, Poland to Poznan, Poland
The rain (with some wind) finally caught us, but we ducked into a bus shelter and didn't get too wet.
We got into the big, busy city of Poznan, then followed a bike path into a very quiet and beautiful green space.

We saw and experienced a lot of things today, but the invitation to lunch with people we met on the side of the road made it special.
miles today 56.5
miles so far 2,024.9

Today was the 2,000 mile mark!
But first, breakfast was amazing and here are some more pictures of the Cukrownia Znin hotel.
We left around 9am expecting to get rained on.
Half way through today's ride, we hit the 2,000 mile mark.
This place was not conducive to eating our lunch so we went just a bit further and found a bus shelter next to a school where a mom was watching her kid play on the playground. We were taking pictures when the dad of the kid walked up and asked if he could take photos for us. Then he asked about our trip. After he found out where we were from and what we were doing, he said he was amazed at what he encountered just by taking the trash to the bin (near the school).
After a bit, they started walking home. We started eating sandwiches. Then Aleks came back and invited us to their house for dinner. We said we had to get to Poznan tonight. He said... 20 minutes. So, he meant to eat food now so we went.
They had some soup with sausage and vegetables from their garden already prepared. It was good. But mostly, it was so nice to visit with them and enjoy their kindness. They live with his parents in the home that his grandfather built with the money earned from raising mushrooms in the old barn next door. Or something like that.
I gave Aleks a St. Christopher pocket token. When he read what it said, he was shocked and said he couldn't accept it. But, I told him it was a gift that I hand out to people that I meet on my travels so he accepted it. We spent about 30 minutes with them, then had to get going.

Construction of the day closed the path we wanted to be on, but Garmin rerouted us.
We are staying at Hotel Ibis Poznan Stare Miastro. It was $86 including breakfast.
We walked to Liberty Plaza.
My niece, Rachel recommended that we go to Town Hall in the old city Square to hear the bell tower and see the goats butt heads. We missed the head butting, but we heard the bells and had a nice dinner.
Potato pancakes are a traditional Polish food, so I had to try. They were good. I think the sausage sauce would have been better if it was hot. The meal was 29 zloties (about $7). Since I paid with zloties, I know there was no tax added on.
It's about the journey, not the destination!
