St. Regis to Alberton Montana
We left St Regis around 8 this morning. It was a cool 56 degrees (which later warmed up to about 90).
We followed our route to Cold Creek Road which turned into Southside Road and went through a beautiful valley.
We found a nice coffee shop in Superior, then followed the Clark Fork River on a nice side road.
When we got to Tarkio Montana, we started to question our route. Ride with GPS and Google showed the road to take. Apple maps, a street sign, and a local man told us the road was a dead end. So, we had lunch. Then we called Sandra. She came and drove the road to verify it was a dead end.
Back to I-90 for a few miles. We reconnected with our planned route only to find another dead end (private road).
We rode the last few miles into Alberton on I-90. Sandra picked us up and drove us back to Superior where we had non refundable hotel reservations.
After a little research from Kay and I, I think we may have eaten lunch very close to where the train carrying Boeing 737 fuselage derailed in July 2014.
