Lincoln to Wymore Nebraska
We said our goodbyes to Eli and Rachel last night. We left at 630am so we would not interfere with them getting ready for work. We found a coffee shop then headed out of town on the Jamaica North Trail.
We connected with the Homestead Trail which took us to Beatrice (after a break in Cortland).
At Beatrice, we connected to the Chief Standing Bear Trail.
At Holmesville, we called our warmshowers host. She wanted to meet us on the trail and ride with us to her house. She met us at the Blue Springs / Wymore trailhead.
We got there at 230pm. We were about 1 mile from her house when Kay's front tire went flat. So, Carol rushed home on her e-bike to get the truck (since her husband didn't answer the phone), while Brenda and I rode the rest of the way to the house leaving Kay by herself. Carol went back and got Kay, then I helped her change her tube. Weird thing is, we never found the cause of the flat and we never found a home in the tube. We pumped it up and it still had air in it. We put a new tube in it anyway. Carol's husband, Mike, was able to fix my pump for me. We showered and had a nice visit for a few hours before having a great dinner of barbecued pulled pork that Mike had prepared. Carol has done several bicycle tours in the past so we had fun swapping stories. The trails we did today were very nice. There had been a storm about a week ago which left some branches on the trail but we could easily get around them. Tomorrow we will finish the trail and get back on pavement... and hills.
56.7 miles
591 feet climbing
