Breakfast was not what we've been used to. We had three choices from a menu. We must be getting spoiled. Also, the room was pretty hot last night. We had the balcony door and window open. I think it cooled off around 4am. Also, smoke from the neighbors drifted in. And, I still managed to sleep well enough. We had breakfast and got rolling around 830am.
We ended up riding up the switchbacks by this castle. It was steep!
We were on quiet roads and bicycle paths all day. It was very nice.
We found a shady bench in Cerhovice to eat our sandwiches (from breakfast). No stores were open.
I found a water spigot (first public place I've seen offering free water). We also stopped at a couple of gas stations that were open where we could get water from the bathroom sink and buy a cold drink.
It got up to 90 degrees today. The very light wind still felt nice. We saw lots of local cyclists out riding. I've started seeing more houses with above ground pools. Yesterday I saw a well occupied public pool in a small town. We went by some small lakes where people were gathered.
When we created our routes for this trip, we use a mapping program called Ride With GPS (rwgps). You put in your start and end points, then rwgps fills in the details. We go through each route to make sure we like it. Sometimes you just have to trust it. Usually, it's a good route. Today, it put is on some beautiful paths, except one.
We got into Pilsen around 5pm.
We stashed our bikes in the breakfast room of the Green Gondola Hotel (this was about $80 including breakfast).
We walked to dinner in the old town square to a place called Lekarna (translates to "pharmacist").
I had a very good meal of chicken with roasted vegetable, a raspberry lemonade and dessert (it was around $20). This was Lynn's treat... thanks, Lynn!
