Vantage to Othello Washington
We started at the Ginkgo Petrified State Forest near Vantage. We loaded up the car, drove from Ellensburg, and started riding around 830am. We took a road that followed the river.
We had to get back onto the thick, loose gravelly Palouse to Cascades Trail so we could cross the bicycle bridge at Beverly.
We HAD to go under this gate to get to the trail.
We saw what was hiding under these giant white covers... it looks like hoppes.
After crossing the river, we started seeing more farmland. We think we saw fields of tomato plants. We saw some people picking onions (we could smell the onions).
We found and stopped at a fresh cherries stand along the road for a refreshing treat.
Unfortunately, I got a flat tire (back) probably from going through the ditch to get to the fruit stand even though I carefully avoided all plants and I have Tannus Armour inserts. Fortunately, Darryl came to us with lunch. I changed my tire in the air conditioned fruit stand office. Then we had lunch in the shade of the hay barn. I got another flat (front this time) about a half mile from the hotel. Darryl picked me and Kay up, while Lynn rode on to the hotel. Remember, Lynn has to do every mile for her Guinness World Record. Follow Lynn at https://lifeislikeabike.wordpress.com/2023/06/20/chased-by-rain-and-a-train-caught-by-both-at-the-same-time/. As soon as Lynn arrived at the hotel, her tire went flat!
