Red Lodge to Billings Montana
We left Red Lodge around 8am. It was a cool 60 degrees. We headed east on US212. For the most part, the traffic was light and the shoulder was OK when needed.
We moved on to some side roads. We went by the place where the Clark Fork Yellowstone River meets the Yellowstone River. If you look closely, you can see where the two rivers converge.
Today was an easy 60 miles as it was all downhill. We went from 5588 feet to 3126 feet. We got to Billings around 130pm. Since we couldn't check in the the motel, we went to eat and to the Winco grocery store (a very cool employee owned store... lots of bulk items and the prices are cheaper than the chain stores). The sky seems hazy... the news says it is from some Canadian fires. We checked into a scanky Motel 6 where we are just barricaded ourselves in for the night. Our room is actually clean, just not quite finished (like a cabinet for a microwave but no microwave). Oh well, it's cheap and I'm sure we'll survive.
57.51 miles
226 feet climbing
