After we rebuilt the bike box, we decided to consult the hotel manager for our best shipping options. So, we went outside to see the midnight sun... at midnight! It was just below the trees where we were, so we couldn't actually stand in sunshine without walking too far. So, I got a picture of the sun shining on the church and buildings. Pretty cool.
The hotel manager advised us to use posten.no (government postal service). She helped us in filling out the forms and printing the paper labels for us. It turns out it was $76 to send my bike bag to Geneva where I will end my ride and return home.
The other options, mybaggage.com and DHL were both at least twice as much and way more complicated. Hopefully, the bag will make it to Geneva.
We ate breakfast and left around 11am... leaving our bags for the postal carrier to pick up tomorrow!
About 12 miles into our ride was a rest stop. The outhouse had some helpful signage. The sky was sunny, the temperature was around 74, the wind was blowing into our faces between 15 and 20mph, and the roads were ALL uphill... ok maybe a few were down. But, even some of those downhills had to be pedaled because of the headwind.
Still, the route was beautiful. We went through a gorgeous canyon next to a rushing river.
We found a beautiful spot for the lunch we took from the hotel breakfast.
We got to our lodge around 430pm.
