We weren't in a hurry to leave this morning since we had a short ride to Torun. We thought we'd leave around 9... but Lynn got busy with her blog and we ended up leaving at 10. We had a nice breakfast. I had some meat stuff, sausage, beans, cottage cheese, rice somethig, salad, crepe, and some soup with sausage in it. It was all good.
As we were finishing up, we saw a large group of people walk past the hotel with a police escort and safety personnel. Then we got ready to go. We left around 10.
Then we saw the group of people!
I talked to a couple of the safety guys. They are doing a 350km Pilgrimage. Very cool. If Lynn had not delayed, we would have missed the whole thing. Then we saw a priest waiting for them and he gave us more information.
It was a beautiful day for a leisurely ride.
I can confirm that the signal for a truck driver to honk his horn is indeed universal.
We were on nice bicycle paths nearly the whole way today.
We did have a couple of these detours to deal with. But, we managed.
We found a bike shop to see about a noise on Lynn's bike. The technician seemed very knowledgeable about bikes but I think the communication was a bit of an issue. He assured Lynn that the noise was no problem. She could not convince hom that it is anew noise and shouldn't be there. But it rides well, so we left. We got to our hotel in old town around 3pm.
We showered, got settled in, ate a snack, then headed out to explore. We are right next time the old city wall by the river.
Lynn knew that Torun is famous for gingerbread (pierniki). We found 5 or 6 stores right away!
We resisted until after dinner.
